Community

Community development activity of the Partnership is about enabling people to enhance their capacity to play a role in shaping the community they live in. We work with community groups and other agencies to identify needs, and to plan in a strategic way for the development of local area action plans. The list below gives an outline of the work carried out by the Partnership.

This access group is open to disabled people, family members, older people and those with an interest in disability issues.  For more information on the access group contact Catherine on 01-8989165.

Work with ethnic minority groups

The Community Development team are currently in the pre development stages of work with ethnic minority groups; this will involve retrieving base line data with regard to ethnic communities in the D10 area. We will begin engaging with this community through a series of lunch and learn events over the summer period. We hope that this process will begin to identify the needs of this diverse community and while working closely with them to develop a long term strategy to meet the needs identified.
The following training will be delivered by the Ballyfermot Partnership over the next year

  • Childcare training-to be decided
  • Child Protection training
  • Training for trainers
  • Solution Focussed Brief Therapy-Six Steps to Parenting
  • Funding workshops
  • Senior Citizen Helpline Training
  • Training for Individuals working with Senior Citizens
