A major part of our strategy is to target resources and supports to enable increased access and participation of targeted young people and their families in the existing education system in Dublin 10. Our strategy includes the following actions:

- Leaving Certificate Support Programme

Education Access Officer:
Fergal Scully is our Education Access Officer. Fergal is based in the Ballyfermot Community and Civic Centre. His role is to increase the numbers of students from Ballyfermot accessing higher education and to provide information and support to the students of Ballyfermot. If you have a query regarding attending college or you are currently in college, Fergal would be happy to meet you at his Student Query Clinics which are held in the Partnership offices in the Community Civic Centre or in the Cherry Orchard Community Centre. The Education Accesss Office will hold Student Query Clinics phone for an appointment.
The Education Access Officer role is part funded by the Dublin City Council commitments under the Cherry Orchard regeneration process.
Arts4success:
- This is an after school programme involving Ballyfermot College of Further Education, 5 local primary schools and Ballyfermot Partnership.
- Through art the programme aims to develop the young people's social skills and to raise lifetime expectations with regard to learning.
- The students get to experience a college environment and at the end of the programme all of the art work is displayed in an arts exhibition.
2nd Level Access Programme:
- This programme entitled "Who Knows What About College" is a joint initiative between Ballyfermot Partnership and the 4 post-primary schools in Ballyfermot.
- It is delivered by the Student Support Officer of the Partnership to 2nd year students.
- The aim of the programme is to inform students of the possible choices that can be made to access and participate in further/higher education.
- The students involved in the programme get the opportunity to visit a third level college and to debate and discuss the pathways to achieving their goals.
Leaving Certificate Support Programme:
- Financial support is offered to the post-primary schools in the area in order to provide extra tuition/grinds to Leaving Certificate students.
- The overall aim of the programme is to ensure that students receive any additional support they may require for the Leaving Certificate and to strive to maximise the grades achieved by local students.
