The Education Department aims to increase the number of people participating in Education in Dublin 10. The Education Department works with parents, young people, local schools and community organisations to achieve this aim.
"Who knows what about college"
These workshops are a joint initiative between local post-primary schools, local youth services, third level colleges and the partnership. Working with second year students in local schools.
The aim of these workshops is to discuss with young people the choices available regarding accessing and participating in Further/ Higher Education
A range of tools are used in these workshops including; interactive games, group discussion, small group work around pathways to and choices about further/ higher education. Field Trips to Universities are also organised.
Arts4success and Animation4success are after schools programme involving Ballyfermot Partnership, local primary schools, and Ballyfermot College of Further Education. Primary school students from Ballyfermot College take part in facilitating arts based and animation workshops. This programmes is usually held twice yearly
There are three main components of the programme:
1) Children are assisted with their homework
2) Children take part in Arts based activities or learn animation techniques.
3) Provision of a meal for the children who are participating
The partnership invites students from 5th class in local schools to take part. The uptake of this programme involves commitment of the teachers from the school’s involved as the programme requires that teachers take part also. Depending on the uptake, the numbers are carefully divided up among the schools taking account of equal numbers of boys and girls.
It is envisaged that two of these programmes will take place in 2009.
The Education Task force is a forum for effective communication, co-operation and collaboration for local education providers in Dublin 10.

Our work focuses on disadvantaged young people that require additional or alternative supports within the education system within a community setting. Promoting equality of opportunity and access are key principles underlying our work.
Parents play a vital and important role in the Education of their children. Parent support is crucial in improving Educational outcomes for children in Ballyfermot.
